What happens when you put an amazing actress and her equally incredible daughter in front of a fun backdrop and dress them up for their Christmas portraits?  Christmas porttrait Magic!!!

Mykle is a longtime friend of mine and a successful actress in Houston.  We have been friends for almost 20 years and traveled around the world together!  I love hanging out with her and this shoot was just so much fun!!  Even though it is from last year, I just had to share it because there are so many good ones that I wanted to dedicate a whole blog post just to them!

This sweet little baby is an amazing example of over coming the odds!  After having multiple birth defects, partial paralysis in her upper legs, and spinal surgery just days after birth, she was the model baby in her photo shoot! She was snuggly and smiling and her parents were relaxed, loving, and so proud of their little warrior!  Mom even made sure that I knew not to cover up any scars or stiches, because that was part of who she was in that moment, and they wanted to remember it all!  I love that kind of parent!

And this adorable-nes speaks for itself!  Enjoy!

For the past 6 years I have had the pleasure of shooting the Houston Marathon.  For me, it is the moments on the finish line that keep me coming back.  My passion for photography comes from the moment of capturing a true, raw emotion with my camera, and the finish line of a marathon has no shortage of those.  I’ve seen it all.  Joy, giggles, high fives, tearful hugs, strength, anger, marriage proposals, even cartwheels and tour jetes, blood, sweat, and lots of tears, happy and sad.  It is a beautiful place to be in the world of photography.  There are so many stories that cross the finish line and each photo gives you a glimpse into that story.  Even though I can’t always tell you what the story is, I can tell you that I am so engrossed in and inspired by each person’s triumph as they cross the line, that I can’t wait to go through the photos every year!  So here are some highlights of some of the moments that I love so much. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

This beautiful mama had her baby last week, so I thought it would be fitting her highlight her gorgeous pregnancy shoot this week! We shot this at her home in Los Angeles and, of course, it was a beautiful day!

This past week, I was lucky enough to get to travel to Los Angeles for a photo shoot.  First of all, it was to my former home of LA and second, it was to photograph my dear friend and her growing family (and belly!)  Not only is she a wonderful friend and person, but she is a Tony, Golden Globe, and Emmy nominated actress, Mireille Enos.  I’m so proud of her and had so much fun doing our photo shoot!

I love big families and working with them!  This family was so easy going and it was clear how much they all loved to have fun and be with each other.  guard35web

First let me say it is “one of my favorite photos.”  I can’t actually pic just one.  There are so many reasons whyI love this photo.

First,  I took it in Central Park and we love New York!  We try to go every Thanksgiving and although we have missed the last 2 Thanksgivings, due to the complexities of traveling with 3 young children, we hope to return this year and we cannot wait!!

Second, as I mentioned above, this was taken the day before Thanksgiving.  There was very little photoshopping done to this photo, it was actually THAT beautiful that day!

And the third, and most important, reason why I love this photo is that is my oldest daughter on the bottom left of the photo when she was 4.  She is almost 8 now.

And here it is hanging in my house.  I love being able to see this every day!  It makes me really happy!  I am also extremely flattered that two of my great friends loved it too and now have it hanging over their mantle!  That is the biggest compliment!
