This sweet little baby is an amazing example of over coming the odds!  After having multiple birth defects, partial paralysis in her upper legs, and spinal surgery just days after birth, she was the model baby in her photo shoot! She was snuggly and smiling and her parents were relaxed, loving, and so proud of their little warrior!  Mom even made sure that I knew not to cover up any scars or stiches, because that was part of who she was in that moment, and they wanted to remember it all!  I love that kind of parent!

And this adorable-nes speaks for itself!  Enjoy!

For the past 6 years I have had the pleasure of shooting the Houston Marathon.  For me, it is the moments on the finish line that keep me coming back.  My passion for photography comes from the moment of capturing a true, raw emotion with my camera, and the finish line of a marathon has no shortage of those.  I’ve seen it all.  Joy, giggles, high fives, tearful hugs, strength, anger, marriage proposals, even cartwheels and tour jetes, blood, sweat, and lots of tears, happy and sad.  It is a beautiful place to be in the world of photography.  There are so many stories that cross the finish line and each photo gives you a glimpse into that story.  Even though I can’t always tell you what the story is, I can tell you that I am so engrossed in and inspired by each person’s triumph as they cross the line, that I can’t wait to go through the photos every year!  So here are some highlights of some of the moments that I love so much. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

First let me say it is “one of my favorite photos.”  I can’t actually pic just one.  There are so many reasons whyI love this photo.

First,  I took it in Central Park and we love New York!  We try to go every Thanksgiving and although we have missed the last 2 Thanksgivings, due to the complexities of traveling with 3 young children, we hope to return this year and we cannot wait!!

Second, as I mentioned above, this was taken the day before Thanksgiving.  There was very little photoshopping done to this photo, it was actually THAT beautiful that day!

And the third, and most important, reason why I love this photo is that is my oldest daughter on the bottom left of the photo when she was 4.  She is almost 8 now.

And here it is hanging in my house.  I love being able to see this every day!  It makes me really happy!  I am also extremely flattered that two of my great friends loved it too and now have it hanging over their mantle!  That is the biggest compliment!

I just got in 2 new portrait CD cases and I am really happy with the new style that Millers came out with, so I thought I would share!

First is a Wedding CD that this awesome couple ordered!

And the 2nd is the CD for the Hoston marathon committee.

Just a reminder that you can order your portrait CD and it will come in a really cute, personalized CD case!  It’s like the icing on the cake!  It’s the blue box and white ribbon around the jewelry.  It’s the inspirational, reusable bag containing the yoga clothes! …you get the picture.

Have a great weekend!

bald_eagle_adult2Look at this beautiful bald eagle!

Do you know who took this photo?

NOT ME!!!!!!!!

So we went to our ranch this weekend for a short little getaway.  It is always nice to take a short drive out of the city and get into some open space!  We already live outside the city pretty much and have space…but this is even more so.  Anyways, to get to the story of the one that got away..

I am standing outside taking in the peace and quiet when I look over at the lake about 100 yards away and see a giant bird swoop down and glide over the top of the lake.  What really caught my eye was the size and the fact that it was flying so low and parallel to the water.  Thats when I noticed the white head and yellow beak and called out for someone else to look!  It was so close, it was unmistakably an eagle, but I needed back up!  The family that lives next door was standing outside with me and the husband is our ranch hand who has LOTS of experience out there.  He assured me that is was a bald eagle.  So my husband and kids all come out to see it.  It has now landed on the top of the tree right across the lake from us.  See the gorgeous photo below…

Oh, wait!  THAT’S RIGHT!   I DIDN’T HAVE MY CAMERA!!!!!!!!

and it gets worse…or better.  Depending on your perspecitve.

Suddenly we look over and in the sky ANOTHER bald eagle is approaching!  ANOTHER ONE!!! On our property.  In Texas.  It was crazy.  And as if to say, “Na Na Na Boo Boo” to me, it lands on the top of the tree right next to the one that is already there!  See that gorgeous photo below..

oh, yeah…once again….

Well, as if it couldn’t get worse…it does…

As we stood and looked at them for a few minutes and then decided to leave them in peace, we got in the Kubota to head off and what do we see in the sky heading our way…

yep…another one.  Seriously.  3 bald eagles.  No camera.  I hang my head in shame.

I did find out that there was a bird rehabitation not far from there and I figure that’s where they all came from that day.  Perhaps they were released together?  I have some gorgeous photos in my head and ultimately, I am glad that I lived in the moment with my family.  You can’t capture everything.
